Former councillor's husband attacked in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: Two unidentified miscreants opened fire at one Sanjay Gupta, husband of a former councillor, at Kalinagar under Orient Police limits in Jharsuguda district on Monday.

According to reports, the two bike-borne miscreants intercepted Sanjay while he was out for morning walk near Kalingar and fired two rounds of bullets at him before fleeing the spot.

Gupta was rushed to Jharsuguda hospital following the incident but later shifted to Burla-based VSS Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Orient Police Station IIC Sarangadhar Panigrahi reached the spot after getting information and started an investigation.

"Two bike-borne miscreants fired two rounds of bullets at Sanjay Gupta. Though we are yet to get any written complaint, we reached here after getting information. Our investigation is on to nab the miscreants," said Panigrahi.
