Nayagarh: Three persons of a family were tied up and thrashed by locals at Duda village under Banigocha police limits in Dasapalla block of Nayagarh district for allegedly killing a person of the village on May 18. However, the video of the incident has reportedly gone viral that showed that after being beaten up, one person confessed to the crime.
As per sources, the three identified as Durjodhana Nayak and his two sons Brahmadi and Purnadi were tied to poles and beaten black and blue by the villagers at a ‘Kangaroo Court’ on allegations that the trio had killed one Jadab Nayak of the same village. The villagers reportedly decided to take law in their own hands as police failed to take any action as per the complaint lodged.
However, after being beaten up, Brahmadi, the elder son of Durjyodhana, confessed in front of all the villagers to have killed Jadab.
Asked, Durjyodhana said that he was not aware that his son was involved in any such incident. He said, "I had no clue my son has murdered Jadab. It was when he confessed at the meeting, I came to know. On that fateful day, he called me from Boudh bus stand and I went to pick him up and we went to home. I had no intentions of saving him."
His son, who confessed to the crime, said, “Whatever police decide and punish me as per law, I must accept. I don’t want to say anything else.”
Getting information, Banigocha Police rushed to the spot and rescued three of them while further investigation into the incident is on.
Priya Ranjan Nayak, IIC Banigocha said, "We pacified the villagers and rescued the three. On the other hand, wife of Durjyodhana has filed a complaint against the villagers and necessary action will be taken against them. The son who is accused in the murder case has been detained by the Chaari Chhak police and they are carrying out the investigation."
