Fake tobacco manufacturing unit busted in Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: Police busted a fake zarda (chewing tobacco) manufacturing unit and arrested one person involved in the racket from Kendal village in the district on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Pramod Sahu. Acting on a tip-off,a special police team conducted raid on the unit at Kendal village late night yesterday.

Huge quantity of tobacco products, a machine, packets, labels of several branded companies and other packing materials were seized from the spot, added sources.

The raids were conducted following allegations over trademark violation and fake zarda production that had become rampant in the district. As per reports, the unit was engaged in production and sale of fake tobacco products.

Meanwhile, a car has been seized from the spot and further investigation into the incident is on, police said.
