Fake lubricant manufacturing unit busted in Balasore, 2 detained
Balasore: Sahadevkhunta Police today busted a fake lubricant (engine oil) manufacturing unit operating from Aradabazar area of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a special police team raided a house and seized around 1000 litres of fake lubricants, labels of various engine oil brands and other chemicals. The raid was conducted based on a complaint filed by the officials of a lubricant company that some unscrupulous traders are duplicating their products.
“After three months of probe, we found that fake lubricants were being manufactured at this place. Through used engine oils and some chemicals, they were producing and selling such fake lubricants in the name of several reputed brands in the market,” said a staff of a premium lubricant brand.
A senior police official said, “Five barrels containing over 1000 litres of lubricants and other packing materials have been seized from the spot. We have detained two persons while further investigation in this connection is on.”
Only after chemical tests, it can be ascertained whether the lubricants are fake or genuine, the officer added.
