Elderly Man Looted After Being Offered Lift In Odisha

Cuttack: Two unidentified miscreants allegedly looted an elderly man after offering him lift near Cuttack Link Road area. Even though the incident reportedly happened on Wednesday, the matter came to light yesterday after the elderly man lodged a complaint with police in this regard.

According to sources, one Prafulla Behera of Mahulapada area under Dhenkanal Sadar Police limits was waiting at Cuttack Link Road bus stand to return to his home when two strangers in a car offered him lift.

However, the duo allegedly looted the elderly man after offering him spiked drinks and later abandoned him midway. They reportedly looted Rs 4000 cash and a ‘Mangalsutra’ from his possession.

The elderly man found himself lying near Gandhi Chhak the next day and he immediately informed his family members. A complaint has been lodged at Madhupatna police station in this connection.

Sources said the police have recovered a CCTV footage containing the pictures of the suspects and efforts are on to nab them.
