Drunk man beats wife to death in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: In a gruesome incident, a man in an inebriated state allegedly beat his wife to death with a stick over family dispute at Subalaya village under Sadar police limits here on Sunday.

According to sources, the accused Udit Bag being an alcoholic had frequent fights with his wife, Sushila. Sunday evening, a similar argument ensued and it took an ugly turn when Udit attacked Sushila with an wooden stick leading to her death on the spot.

On being informed, the Sadar police reached the village and detained the accused person. A probe into the matter has been launched.

"The couple had tied the knot four years ago and have two children. As per the information of locals, Udit was jobless and consumed alcohol every day. He used to fight with his wife under the influence of alcohol," said a police official.
