Bhubaneswar/ Sundergarh: Amidst the ongoing public outcry over deteriorating law and order and rise in rape cases in Odisha, the decomposed body of a minor girl was recovered from a forest in Sundergarh district today. It is suspected that the girl was brutally murdered after rape and was then dumped in the forest.

As per reports, the family members of the 15-year-old girl had lodged a police complaint after she allegedly went missing on July 20. Today, her decomposed body was recovered from a forest near Gopalpur village under Hemagir Police limits in Sundergarh.

A team of police reached the spot and a probe is underway in this connection.

In another incident on Sunday, an eight-year-old was rescued in an unconscious condition in Angul. The survivor, who is now undergoing treatment at the hospital, was allegedly raped while her tormentor tried to kill her.

On the other hand, Odisha Assembly today witnessed unruly scenes after Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik expressed grave concerns over rising incidents of sexual assaults against minor girls in the State.

Both BJP and Congress members targeted Odisha government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the issue.
