Caught While Stealing, 3 Miscreants Thrashed By Villagers In Odisha

Balasore: Three persons were nabbed and allegedly thrashed by the locals after being caught while stealing from a house in Shyamrayapur village under Singla police limits here late last night. Two other associates managed to escape from the scene.

As per sources, almost all the people were at a fair organised on the village outskirts when the five miscreants, sensing an opportunity, allegedly broke into a house intending to steal from there.

However, the stealing bid was foiled after a few villagers who were returning from the fair raised an alarm and subsequently chased and managed to nab three of them.

The locals then severely thrashed the miscreants before handing them over to police. The trio was admitted to Basta hospital by the Singla police in a critical condition.

While two of the miscreants- Padma Lochana Tarai and Jhadeswar Jena were identified to be residents of nearby Darada village under Basta police limits, the third person Debasish Jena, belonged to Shyamarayapur village, sources said.
