Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police which intensified probe into a major gambling racket that was busted at Ganganagar in Bhubaneswar yesterday has traced links to Maharashtra.

Though 11 persons were arrested, senior officials claimed that the racket was being operated by persons based in Maharashtra.

“Acting on tip off, we had conducted raid and found that the gambling racket was being operated via internet. Our investigation is on to nab other members of the racket,” said Police Commissioner YB Khurania.

A team of dedicated workers were appointed by some persons based in Maharastra to operate the gambling unit, sources said.

“It is an organized crime and our drive will continue against similar gambling units,” Khurania added.
