Businessmen attacked, looted in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Four unidentified miscreants looted cash and valuables from two businessmen after attacking them with sharp weapons near Durga Mandap in Bomikhal area of the capital city late last night. The businessmen have been identified as Manas Mallick and Sanjay Yadav.

As per a complaint lodged by the duo, four miscreants intercepted them and looted cash and other valuables near Bomikhal Durga Mandap while they were travelling in a car.

They stated that when they opposed, the miscreants allegedly attacked them with sharp weapons. Before fleeing the spot, the miscreants even damaged the vehicle, they alleged in the complaint.

On receiving information, Laxmisagar police reached the spot, rescued the injured duo and admitted them to the hospital. One of the injured was later shifted to a private hospital here after his condition deteriorated.

Police have also launched a manhunt to nab the accused, sources said.

An investigation has also been launched based on examination of the CCTV footages of nearby places. It is being suspected that the miscreants attacked the duo in a bid to loot them; however the exact reason is yet to be ascertained.
