Bhubaneswar: In a major turn of events, what initially appeared as a series of accidents in the capital city, turned out to be a failed abduction bid during the course of investigation.

Saheed Nagar Police reportedly seized two guns from two cars following a raid in the area late on Saturday night, however the cops had no clue regarding the owners of the vehicles.

As per sources, police received information regarding an accident involving two luxury cars. On reaching the spot, the cops recovered two guns from the cars and then towed the vehicles to the police station as there were no occupants inside.

However, the entire incident got a new twist today after a businessman filed a written complaint alleging that four miscreants tried to abduct him last night.

The businessman in his report claimed that he was sleeping inside his car following a quarrel with his wife. Late in the night, six miscreants intercepted him and abducted him at gun point. They then forced him to board their car and drove towards Rasulgarh area from Nayapalli side, the businessman alleged.

However, the abduction bid was foiled after the kidnappers' vehicle and businessman's vehicle being driven by one of the miscreants were hit by a truck from behind on Vanivihar overbridge.

"The miscreants applied sudden brake due to RTO checking on the national highway. Post this, a truck came from behind and dashed against both the vehicles. The abductors immediately fled the scene," alleged the businessman.

Police investigation is currently underway.
