Bhubaneswar: Continuing its crackdown on illegal drugs trade, Commissionerate police today seized 195 grams of brown sugar from Saliasahi slum under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar today and arrested two persons in connection with the case.

On receiving information, a team of Commissionerate police conducted a raid today morning and arrested the two persons.

As per sources, the seized brown sugar is estimated to be Rs 3 lakh.

As per the preliminary investigation, the accused have confessed that they were procuring brown sugar from Howarh and Balasore and selling those in Khurda and Bhubaneswar.

Police sources said further probe into the incident is on.

It is pertinent to mention in the last few months, more than a dozen cases of brown sugar seizure have been reported from the city which has not only created a challenge for the police and excise officials but has also stoked concerns among the denizens.
