Berhampur/Balasore: Despite various steps by the State Government to create awareness, there seems to be no let up in crime against women in Odisha. Bodies of two women were recovered under mysterious conditions from two separate places in the state on Tuesday.

In the first incident, decomposed body of a woman was found from bushes behind an ashram at the Ralaba road under Haldiapara area in Berhampur district Tuesday morning. It is being suspected that body of the woman was dumped on the spot after being raped and subsequently murdered.

According to sources, locals spotted the body in backyard of Rukmini ashram today morning and informed the police. Golanthara police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Preliminary investigation suggested that woman died around three days back. Though identity of the woman is yet to be established, the woman is believed to be 34-35 years-old, police officials said.

In another incident, the naked body of an unidentified woman was recovered near the panchayat office at Dahisada village under Soro police limits in Balasore district today.

Local spotted the body on middle of the road and informed the police. The Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Soro police station along with other officials rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Though reason behind death of the woman is yet to be ascertained, she might have been run down by a vehicle while crossing the road or murdered after being raped, police sources said.
