Gajapati: Two days after the bodies of two sisters were recovered from a well outside their house in R. Udayagiri here, police today made startling revelations claiming that it was a case of murder and not suicide. As per latest reports, police have arrested their parents on charges of murdering their daughters.

The information was revealed by the R.Udayagiri SDPO who stated that their parents had thrown their bodies into the well after forcing them to consume poison.

The deceased were identified as Swapna (22) and Kiran (14), daughters of Tubu Achari of the village.

According to police sources, Swapna was to tie the nuptial knot with a youth from Bhubaneswar, but the marriage broke soon after her engagement.

Police further claimed that the brother-in-law of the deceased (Ganesh Sahoo) had sent a few obscene pictures of Swapna to her future husband, which is believed to be the main reason behind such a circumstance.

Initially after a preliminary investigation, police detained the girls’ parents along with their brother-in-law for interrogation on Sunday.

"Both the father and mother have been arrested. We are interrogating Ganesh Sahoo to find out if he had any hand in the murder. Further investigation is on," said a police official.
