Bolangir: Police today recovered the headless body of a minor boy buried near a canal at Sundhimunda area of the district, some five kilometres away from his house in Sindhikela village.

According to reports, the 9-year-old boy, identified as Ghanashyama Rana of Sindhikela, reportedly went missing on October 13.

Sources said a missing complaint was also lodged in this regard at the local police station by his family members on October 14.

Subsequently, police launched a search and found his body today. Later, Ghanashyam’s family members were informed who immediately rushed to the spot and identified the body.

While a serious investigation has been launched by police, sources said a scientific team is also arriving from Bolangir to assist the police in the probe.

Meanwhile, it is being suspected that the murder could be an act of human sacrifice as there have been reports of such incidents in the area in the recent past.
