Balasore: The Sahadevkhuta police today arrested the prime accused in connection with the murder of a city-based transporter Manas Das Fateh Singh on September 1.

“We have arrested Samsan Mohapatra, the main accused of the murder case. Police have also seized one country-made pistol, two rounds of ammunition and the vehicles used in the crime, Rs 15,000 in cash, ATM cards of different banks and other items from his possession,” informed Balasore SP Jugal Kishore Banoth on Monday.

The evidence that we collected during the investigation revealed that the murder was the fallout of personal enmity between Samsan and Manas, the SP further added.

Police had earlier arrested three persons in connection with the incident and forwarded to court. While a total of eight persons are involved in the crime, police have launched a manhunt to nab the others.

Earlier on September 1, Manas who worked as a transporter in Balasore was shot dead in front of his house at Firingipatna under Sahadevkhunta police limits in the district.

After the incident, police launched a probe and based on the CCTV camera footages installed in the nearby area, four persons including Samsan have been arrested so far.
