Rourkela: Like any another online shopper, Garima Agarwal of Bisra area in Rourkela had ordered a product and was awaiting delivery of the same. However, she allegedly lost Rs 50,000 from her Paytm account in an online fraud through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application.

As per reports, Agarwal while surfing internet stumbled upon a number and inquired about the product details and parcel delivery. The fraudster posing as an official of DTDC Courier Company subsequently informed that her parcel could not be despatched due to non-clearance of charges amounting to Rs 10.

The unidentified caller then shared a link and asked Agarwal to make the payment through online mode. Without sensing any foul play, Agarwal clicked on the link and Rs 50,000 was debited from her account in three transactions.

Realising that she has fallen prey to an online fraud, Agarwal lodged a formal complaint with Bisra police station. An investigation is currently underway.
