6-Year-Old Girl Raped In Odisha, Police Probe Begins

Cuttack: In yet another instance of crime against minors, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Salepur area under Nemalo police limits in Cuttack on Thursday night.

According to sources, the minor girl had gone to watch Jatra (open-air theatre) near her village last night when she was allegedly raped by a man. Meanwhile, the villagers alleged that one of the members of the Jatra troupe is involved in the crime.

On getting information, police launched a probe into the matter and visited the spot. All the members of the Jatra group have been detained for questioning.

“Police brought the minor girl to the hospital at around 8 am today. She was in a state of shock. We provided necessary treatment and her condition is stable," said Dr Amit Jena of Salepur hospital.
