Keonjhar: Police on Saturday arrested two persons and detained a juvenile for allegedly trying to extort Rs 3 crore from a steel plant by posing as Maoists in Keonjhar district.

Keonjhar SDPO (Sadar) Sriharshan Mishra informed that all the accused hail from Jharkhand and had issued a threat to the steel plant authorities to pay the extortion on April 22.

Earlier, panic had gripped the officials of the concerned steel plants after some 'unidentified miscreants' had barged into the plant and threatened the staff.

A letter in the name of the Western Sub Zonal Committee of the Maoists was also left by the miscreants in a bid to terrorize the plant personnel.

Mishra informed that a firearm and three rounds of live ammunition has been seized from the fake Maoists and further investigation in connection with the incident is on.
