Cuttack: The Central Excise Intelligence officials on Sunday arrested three students on the charges peddling ganja (dry cannabis) following a raid near Link Road in Cuttack. All the accused are students of a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar.

Senior officials informed that 32 Kg ganja worth Rs 4 lakh has been seized from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the special team of excise officials intercepted a four-wheeler and seized two packets of ganja from the vehicle. The arrested students are from a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar and were carrying ganja from Kandhamal to Balasore, sources said.

"During patrolling, we tracked a Maruti Suzuki vehicle in which the three engineering students were transporting ganja worth Rs 4 lakh. The detained students hail from Kandhamal," said Jagdish Chandra Samal, Inspector, Excise Department, central division, Cuttack.

The excise officials have intensified probe to ascertain more information in connection with the case.
