3 arrested in Khurda for possessing brown sugar

Khurda: The Khurda district excise officials today arrested three persons on charges of possessing brown sugar and seized 125 grams of the contraband item worth Rs 12.50 lakh from them.

Following joint raids by the Khurda district excise officials and a flying squad from Cuttack at Baseli Sahi, Matha Sahi and Hada Chhak of Khurda, the trio was arrested, said an official.

The arrested persons have been identified as Brundaban Pradhan and Kiran Kumar Swain of Matha Sahi and Soumyaranjan Naik of Barunei Sahi in Khurda.

“After the raids, we have arrested three persons and seized 125 gram brown sugar estimated to be Rs 12.50 lakh and Rs 50,000 cash,” informed Sharat Chandra Bhanja, IIC of Cuttack flying squad.

As per latest reports, the trio has been forwarded to court.
