Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested two criminals—Jagan Pradhan and Ratnakar Palei from Bhubaneswar in its ongoing drive against anti-socials that was launched a week ahead of the festive season in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi informed that more than 10 criminal cases including loot, robbery, murder and extortion are pending against Jagan Pradhan in several police stations.

Jagan who mostly used to operate in Cuttack & Bhubaneswar was nabbed by the special squad, informed sources.

Senior officials said both Jagan and his associate Ratnakar were absconding after police had launched a special drive against anti-social elements ahead of the festive season last week.

“Dozens of criminal cases are pending against Jagan while efforts are on to establish his involvement in other crimes in the city,” said Bhoi.

Saheed Nagar Police has also arrested two persons for snatching mobile phones and other valuables at various ‘puja pandals’ during Dussehra celebrations in Bhubaneswar.

Similarly, a woman has been arrested and two minors, who were part of a snatching gang, have also been detained by the police. The woman is being interrogated for information regarding other members of her gang.
