Koraput: A woman is now running from pillar to post to seek justice after she was allegedly impregnated by an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawan posted in Koraput. The jawan is accused of betraying the woman after promising to marry her.

As per reports, the accused IRB jawan identified as Asish Patika and the woman were into a relationship for the last eight years. The woman, who is a widow, alleged that she is now eight months pregnant.

After the concerned jawan went incommunicado and snapped all ties with her, the woman had sought intervention of IRB authorities. However, the authorities allegedly did not pay any heed to her pleas.

Later, the woman lodged a complaint before the district superintendent of police.

“Though I had lodged a police complaint, no step has been taken so far. Meanwhile, my landlord is now forcing me to vacate the house,” alleged that complainant.

Inspector-in-charge of Koraput Town Police Station, Basudev Chatria, on the other hand, informed that the matter is already under investigation.

“We have already written two letters to IRB Commandant and probe is underway. The jawan is presently on sick leave and action will be taken against him,” said Chatria.
