Cuttack: The Cuttack Cyber Police Station under the CID, Crime Branch has arrested three cyber criminals from Patna in Bihar for allegedly duping a person from Bhuban area of Jajpur district to the tune of Rs 40 lakh. Senior officials informed that the accused had created a fake website in the name of Reliance Petrol Pump and approached the victim in Odisha for its dealership.

The accused have been identified as Akash Kumar (21), Subham Priyadarshi (19) and Koushalendra Kumar (23). According to reports, the complainant, Om Prakash Mishra had deposited over Rs 40 lakh in different phases after being lured into the fake dealership scheme offered by the trio.

Mishra had lodged a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in the month of January 2019. Later, a special team of the police carried out an operation and nabbed the three accused in connection with the fraud.

“Our special team had left for Bihar by road and managed to nab the criminals. After they were produced in the local court, the accused have been brought on a transit remand,” said ADG Crime Branch, Santosh Upadhyay at a presser today.

Moreover, Rs 8.59 lakh cash, 47 debit cards, cheque books, driving licences, Aadhaar cards and some incriminating documents have been seized from the accused.

Senior officials informed that two persons from Odisha had fallen prey to such fraudsters. The second victim from Titlagarh has been duped of Rs 14 lakh.
