"Through our clinical trials spanning 30,000 individuals, approximately 10-20 per cent individuals report side effects. Most of these are mild, resolve within 1-2 days, and do not require medication. Medication is only recommended only after you consult a physician," the company said.

According to the "Guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination of children between 15-18 years and precaution dose to HCWs, FLWs and 60+ population with comorbidities" issued by the health ministry recently, prioritisation and sequencing of the precaution dose for the beneficiaries would be based on the completion of nine months from the date of administration of the second dose, which is 39 weeks.

Ravi Vasanthapuram, the head of the research and development of TATA MD said the test kit is compatible with all standard Real-Time PCR Machines. It kit can detect the Omicron variant as well as other variants of SARS-CoV2 reported so far. 

Of the new Omicron cases, 5 positives have been linked to foreign travel history while 19 others are local contacts.

The trials are being conducted by US-based biotechnology company Gritstone bio in collaboration with the University of Manchester and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
