More than 523 active cases of coronavirus have been found in the Mumbai Police Department.
With this, active cases in Odisha stood at 20,560. So far, 10,46,617 Covid-19 infected have recovered in the State since the outbreak of the pandemic.
Bhadrak has so far registered 26,661 Covid-19 cases, including seven on Sunday, and 148 deaths. While the active cases stood at 46, as many as 26,463 have recovered from the disease till date.
The second worst hit country in terms of cases is India (35,528,004 infections and 483,790 deaths), followed by Brazil (22,529,183 infections and 620,252 deaths).
Odisha government on Sunday informed that around 97% of COVID patients in the State are not needing hospitalization. Of the total 16117 active positive cases, 15640 are being treated in home isolation which means as many as 477 patients are under treatment at various hospitals in the State.
Moderna is currently also developing a vaccine to specifically tackle the Omicron variant. Early-stage data on its effectiveness is expected within the next two weeks.
Delhi on Saturday, recorded seven fatalities due to Covid and 20,181 cases as the positivity rate rose to 19.60 per cent, while the country, according to Union health ministry data updated on Sunday, reported a single day rise of 1,59,632 cases and 327 fatalities.
Currently, the new variant of COVID19 is spreading its tentacles across the country including Odisha which has become a reason of concern for all.
It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is currently witnessing a rise in the daily cases of Covid-19 infections. Today, 4714 new Covid-19 cases were reported from different parts of the State. This is the biggest single-day count recorded so far this year.

The active caseload has jumped to 5,90,611, accounting for 1.66 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
As per I & PR department, Khordha district reported maximum 1619 cases, followed by Sundergarh (662), Sambalpur (437), and Cuttack (360). A total of eight districts reported Covid-19 cases in three digits in the past 24 hours.
US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 59,766,818 and 837,262, according to the CSSE.
