The advisory also stated that asymptomatic individuals in community settings and contacts of confirmed cases of Covid-19 need not undergo testing unless the patient is identified as high risk based on age and comorbidities.

All states and Union Territories are advised to keep a daily watch on the situation of the total number of active cases, cases under home isolation, the number of hospitalized cases, cases on oxygen beds, ICU beds and on ventilatory support, he wrote.

The Odisha government has placed an order to procure five lakh Omicron testing kits, OmiSure, informed Girish Krishnamurthy, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Medical and Diagnostics Ltd. (TATA MD) on Monday.

Recently several Union Ministers tested positive for Covid. These include Mahendra Nath Pandey, Raosaheb Patil Danve, Bharti Pawar, Nityanand Rai, and S.P. Singh Baghel.

The civic body announced the penalty in the backdrop of the city witnessing a sudden surge in Covid cases recently with 574 positive cases having been recorded on Sunday.
