Bhubaneswar: Amid concerns over growing discrepancies in the COVID-19 data, the State government today revealed the case history of Patient 45, 46, 47 and 48, the four cases which were detected positive for n-CoV late on Thursday.
As per the health & family welfare department, two minor girls from Jharpara area in Bhubaneswar, one aged 5 years and another 9 years are among for positive coronavirus cases. Another 37-year-old female has also tested positive. The government has revealed that all three cases are close relatives of patient number 42, believed to be the lone casualty in the State.
Travel History of Case No. 46, 47, 48.
The trio remained at home from March 22 to April 3. On April 4 and 5, they visited AIIMS hospital in Bhubaneswar to attend Case No. 42 who was under treatment. Post their hospital visit, they remained in home quarantine from April 6-9, while their samples were collected on April 8 as part of contact tracing. They were tested positive for COVID-19 on April 9 and admitted to KIMS COVID Hospital on April 10.
Case No. 45: 20-year-old from Kalahandi
The 20-year-old male from in Beharaguda village, Golamunda of Kalahandi district met with his friends in the village on March 20 and 21 in the afternoon. He remained at home from March 22-24 in the wake of Janta curfew and Odisha lockdown. He had visited a grocery shop in the village on March 25 and then there was no movement till April 3. He had come in contact with the 29-year-old male with travel history to Bahrain on April 4, the same day the latter was tested positive for COVID-19. He then stayed at home on April 4. The next day, he was shifted to institutional quarantine centre at Sosia. Even though he was asymptomatic, his sample was collected under routine surveillance and tested positive for COVID-19 on April 9. He has been shifted to Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack.
As on April 9 midnight, 3249 samples have been tested and 48 cases have tested positive, as per H&FW department. Bhubaneswar remains the potential hotspot with the highest number of COVID-19 cases so far at 38 including the WB Medinipur case, followed by Bhadrak which has recorded 3 cases, Kalahandi two cases and Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Dhenkanal with one case each.
