Berhampur/Jharsuguda: In an effort to contain the spread of COVID19, the Odisha government has decided to conduct door-to-door health screening of every household in Ganjam district which has been identified a vulnerable area because of the large number of returnees from outside states.
Around 40 lakh people belonging to 7 lakh families will be screened in Ganjam in a three-day mega health screening programme, informed district collector, Vijay Amruta Kulange.
Kulange held a meeting with the block development officers (BDOs) and tehsildars in this regard today and chalked out a detailed strategy to carry out the health screening exercise.
“Anganwadi service area has been identified as a single unit. Teams have been constituted to carry out the screening. The teams will visit door-to-door and collect data about the health of the family members in every household,” Kulange said.

“A set of questionnaire has been prepared. The team members will ask the questions to the people to know whether they have any symptoms of coronavirus. If they come across any such case, a medical team will be dispatched to the area immediately,” he added.
The collector said as more than 28,000 people have returned to Ganjam district from outside recently, the health screening programme is a precautionary measure to stem the spread of coronavirus.

Similarly, the Jharsuguda district administration has started conducting universal screening of all households in the municipal areas of Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda and Laikera blocks.
“Teams have been constituted comprising of health, block and ICDS functionaries. The CHC Medical Officers concerned will circulate the questionnaire and monitor this exercise of screening,” said a notification issued by the Jharsuguda district administration.
The exercise was kicked off today and will end on April 11. Reporting of outcomes will be done in a given format, the circular said.
