Dhenkanal District is centrally located on the Geo-Political map of Odisha. It is commonly believed that it owes its name to a Savara chief named ‘DHENKA’ who formerly ruled over in this tract. The missing youth is a student of Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology at Sarang in Dhenkanal. He has been identified as Sanat Kumar Mahalik from Balasore. He is pursuing B.Tech from the engineering college.
The body of a missing Plus II first-year girl was recovered from a bush, a few yards away from her house at Mangalpur under Sadar police limits of Dhenkanal on Friday.

Farmer Biranchi Malick said, "A forest is there in our Karamul panchayat. Elephants, porcupines, boars, and jackals damage our crops. We farmers have adopted this mechanism to scare the animals away. Boars are a major menace. We fear to kill boars because of legal action. This system keeps these marauding animals away from our farmland.”
As per reports, Pihu’s mother Monalisa Nayak left her home at Jajpur’s Binjharpur for Sambalpur on Friday night by a car. But she was reportedly apprehended near Govindpur just before Dhenkanal town by the police and detained at the Govindpur outpost.
As per reports, Sarbeswar was going on his bike. The car in which the Sundargarh MP was travelling from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela allegedly hit the bike from the rear at Rekula Chhak. Sarbeswar was critically injured. The piloting vehicle of the MP rescued the injured and immediately rushed him to the Kamakhyanagar hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The mother elephant and the calf were crossing the Dhenkanal-Kapilash road near Nagiapasi, but slid into the roadside trench. The animals were struggling to get out of the pit, but all in vain. Coming to know about the distressed animals, local residents immediately informed the forest department.
