News from Bhardak

Bhadrak is a city of Odisha state in eastern India. It came into existence on 1 April 1993. According to legend, the city derives its name from the Goddess Bhadrakali whose temple is on the banks of the Salandi River. Dhamra, one of the deep draft ports of India which can accommodate super cape-size vessels is situated in Bhadrak. Bhadrak is also famous for Palua Ladu, special kind of sweet.

Bhadrak town is now festooned with saffron flags while the air of festivity is sweeping the town and nearby villages. Various rituals, Yajna and recital of Hanuman Chalisa have started at the historic Gandhi Ground as a prelude to the celebration.

The deceased and the injured persons belong to a family. The critically injured were said to be a woman, her mother-in-law and the driver of the car. They were travelling in a car from Goa to Howrah, preliminary reports said.
