Mumbai: Sugar prices moved up marginally at the Vashi Wholesale market here on Thursday on mild buying from retailers.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) edged up by Rs five per quintal to Rs 2,911/2,991 from Thursday`s closing level of Rs 2,906/2,991.

Small sugar quality (S-30) also looked up by a similar margin to Rs 2,891/2,931 per quintal as against Rs 2,886/2,931 yesterday.

The following are today`s closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,891/2,931 (Rs 2,886/ 2,931) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,911/2,991 (Rs 2,906/2,991).
