Sugar declines on reduced demand

Mumbai: Sugar prices declined further at the Vashi Wholesale market here on Tuesday owing to lower demand by stockists and bulk consumers, amidst selling pressure from mills.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) fell by Rs 15/30 per quintal to Rs 2,891/2,951 from overnight closing level of Rs 2,906/ 2,981.

Small sugar quality (S-30) also lost Rs 20 per quintal to Rs 2,861/2,901 as against Rs 2,881/2,921 yesterday.

The following are today`s closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,861/2,901 (Rs 2,881/ 2,921) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,891/2,951 (Rs 2,906/2,981).
