Mumbai: The rupee depreciated by 15 paise to 45.13 per US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, weighed down by dollar gains against other Asian currencies and a weak start on the stock market.

Forex traders said that dollar gains against other Asian currencies and a weak opening on the stock market mainly put pressure on the rupee.

The rupee rose by 6 paise to close at 44.98/99 against the US currency in the previous session on Friday on the back of mild sale of dollars by exporters and some banks.

Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex fell by 262.29 points, or 1.42 per cent, to 18,224.16 in early trade.
