Berhampur: In a bid to ease traffic problem in the southern Odisha town, Berhampur Development Authority (BDA) has proposed construction of a ring road and a bypass.
The decision was taken at the development authority meeting held here last week.
The proposed 52-km ring road will cover Raghunathpur, Ratanapur, Digapahandi Road, Chikiti Road, Haldiapapadar, National Highway 5, Korapalli, University Road, Golabandh Gate and Raghunathpur.
Similarly, the 13-km bypass will be from Alakapur to Ratanpur, while there would be an internal bypass road to connect First Gate and Jagannathpur.
The cost of the projects will be estimated after preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs), chairman of the development authority Kailash Rana said.
"When these road projects are completed, traffic congestion in the town will ease considerably," he said.
The urban body has also approved construction of three bus stands at Haladiapadar, on the outskirts of the town, Chhatrapur and Gopalpur. It has also decided to construct over 120 houses under different categories at Bibeka Bihar, Rana informed.
