New Delhi: Singapore based low cost carrier Scoot on Friday said that it will commence flight operations to India from May.

The airline which is the low cost, medium-haul arm of the Singapore Airlines Group, will commence flight operations to Chennai, Amritsar and Jaipur from its hub in Singapore.

According to the airline, it will take over Singapore-Chennai services from Tigerair from May 24, 2016. The airline will operate a daily flight to Chennai.

Besides, the low cost airline will commence services from Singapore to Amritsar from May 24 and Jaipur from October 2, 2016.

"Scoot is excited to bring our proposition of value travel and service with Scootitude to guests in India -- who will soon be able to fly to amazing destinations in our network through the Singapore hub - on our brand-new 787 Dreamliners featuring inflight connectivity, in-seat power and a wide range of customisation options," said Campbell Wilson, chief executive, Scoot.

"Our launch in Chennai will complement the SIA Group's existing services, while Scoot's new services to Amritsar and Jaipur will bring travellers to the magnificent Golden Temple and the stunning Pink City, enabling guests in Scoot's network to discover India's mystique and allure."

To mark its launch in India, the carrier has announced a limited time period promotional offer that passengers can avail till 9.29 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016.

Under the promotional scheme, "One-way Economy FLY" fares from Chennai, Amritsar and Jaipur starts from Rs.4,255 to Singapore and Rs.12,567 to Sydney; Rs.11,902 and Rs.30,520 for ScootBiz to Singapore and Sydney respectively.
