Bhopal: With IT majors like Infosys and TCS gearing up to enter Madhya Pradesh`s commercial town of Indore, the state is trying to position itself as the most sought-after destination after metros like Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad which are facing severe space crunch.

As per the MoU signed between the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government and Infosys, the IT major is setting up its unit with the investment of Rs 600 crore on 130 acres of land on the Indore-Ujjain Super Corridor.

The project likely to be completed in five years will generate 13,000 jobs. The Rs 98-crore Super Corridor connects Indore and Ujjain. With Infosys setting up its shop, another global leader TCS is too not lagging far behind.

"We have also got a proposal from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for inking an MOU for setting up IT facility in the Super Corridor," Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya told PTI on Thursday.

When asked about the details about the proposal, the minister said it would be more or less on the same lines as that of Infosys.

After studying the proposal and clearance by the State Law Department, dates for inking MoU with TCS will be finalised, he said.

With the two IT giants entering the state, Madhya Pradesh is set to become a major IT destination and a hub for the software industry, Vijaywargiya said. (More) PTI MAS NSK

Vijaywargiya also informed that a team of officials from another leading IT player, Wipro, also visited Indore to scout for investment opportunities.

Buoyed by the response, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed the Indore Development Authority (IDA) to identify nearly 1000 acres of land for the IT companies, the industries minister said.

IDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chandramauli Shukla said that 100 acres of land has already been allotted to TCS for setting up the Global Delivery Centre on the Super Corridor.

With Crystal IT Park, situated in a huge multi-story complex on Khandwa Road, a number of IT companies like CSC India Limited, Impetus and Suvi Information System have set up their facilities in the historic city.

According to Vijaywargiya, the state government would also focus on creating similar facilities in Ujjain and Bhopal due to the availability of land at cheaper prices as compared to Indore.
