Bhubaneswar: Private lender HDFC Bank today said it will open 16 more branches in Odisha by the end of March this year.

The bank's 100th branch, located at Infocity in the IT hub and special economic zone of Bhubaneswar, was inaugurated by the State's finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat today.

"Our extensive 100-branch network in Odisha reiterates our commitment to take formal banking services to every part of the State. We will open 16 more branches in the State by the end of March this year," Madhusudan Hegde, Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank said at the launch.

The objective of HDFC Bank is to empower more people in Odisha by offering full range of banking services, even in rural areas, he said adding, the focus was on rural areas as 70 of the 100 Odisha branches were located in rural pockets.

Speaking at the launch, Debashis Senapati, zonal head, HDFC Bank said, the journey to reach the 100th branch milestone in Odisha has been extremely fulfilling, since the launch of our first branch in the state in 2001.

At the national level, HDFC Bank has 56 per cent of its branches in semi-urban and rural areas and was continuously extending its reach in the hinterland in its endeavour to support inclusive growth, Hegde said.
