Panaji: Goa and Gujarat governments have signed an agreement for the joint promotion of the tourist destinations in their respective states and also for the creation of a circuit on the western coast.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between both the states during the ongoing Goa International Travel Mart (GITM) in Goa. The pact was inked between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). Managing Director of TCGL Sanjay Kaul said that there is a lot common in both the states, which could be worked on to create the circuit.

Kaul pointed out that both the states share similarities like beaches, temples, heritage sites and others."Goa is famous for beaches, while Gujarat is known for its heritage and culture," he said, adding that both the states can work on each others` strengths.

Goa Tourism Director Swapnil Naik said that Gujarat has been attracting a lot of Meeting Incentives Conference and Exhibition (MICE) tourist traffic, which could also be diverted to Goa, which is emerging as an MICE destination. Naik said that the joint exercise would also help in guiding the foreign tourists, who seek a wide range of itinerary during their visit.
