Chennai: Confederation of Indian Industry on Monday signed an agreement with UNICEF to set up a Knowledge Management Hub for corporate social responsibility here in south India. The hub would be a knowledge centre of CSR related information, act as a think-tank and play an advocacy role for CSR activities in Tamil Nadu, a CII press release said.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Pradipa K Mohapatra, Chairman, CSR Sub-Committee and Satish Kumar, Chief, UNICEF State Office for Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mohapatra said the overall goal of the CSR Hub would be to jointly strengthen knowledge and build capacity of the private sector involvement in CSR, with particular focus on women and children, from child rights and business principles perspective, he said.

Kumar said CII and UNICEF would jointly initiate a series of measures, including capacity building programmes, workshops for industry on CSR; training modules in line with UN global initiative on 'Child Rights and Business Principles'; identify best practices related to child centric CSR in public and private sector units, amongst other initiatives.
