In the wake of the tragic death of FM College student, the Cuttack City Congress organized a candlelight march from Dargha Bazar to Gaurishankar Park on Tuesday.
The march saw the participation of former MLA Mohammed Moquim, Cuttack-Barabati MLA Sophia Firdous, and several other senior Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, in protest of the student’s death, the Student Congress hurled eggs at the residence of the Higher Education Minister. The situation escalated into a face-off between the students and the police during the demonstration.
On the other hand, the BJP held a 'Deep Daan' (lamp-lighting ceremony) at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar in memory of the deceased student. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and MLA Babu Singh were among the notable BJP leaders who participated in the tribute.
A Congress delegation also visited the bereaved family of Balasore district. The team included PCC President Bhakta Das, senior leader Rama Chandra Kadam, and several other Congress leaders who offered their condolences to the grieving family.

Separately, BJD leaders also visited the village and met the family members of the victim. They also took out a candlelight march. Bhogarai MLA Gautam Buddha Das, along with BJD women leaders Snehangini Chhuria, Subasini Jena, Tukuni Sahu, and Lekhashree Samantsinghar, participated in the candlelight rally and met with the victim's family to offer support and condolences.
