Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) produced 11.8 lakh tons of Saleable Steel during April-October of the current financial year thereby registering the best ever performance for the period since inception. Production of HR Coils (Total) hit highest mark during these seven months with 9.34 lakh tons thereby contributing the most in the production figure, RSP sources said today.

HR Plates production with 191778 tons too was the best since inception performance in the first seven months. The ERW Pipe Plant (ERWPP) was another star performer with production of 32953 tons of ERW Pipes in the said period which is not only the best ever figure but also a growth of 29.5 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

Besides, by making 71852 tons of Galvanised Sheets and 7512 tons of Tin Plates in April-October 2011, the Cold Rolling Mill recorded an increase of 5.4 per cent and 51.3 per cent respectively over the corresponding period last year.

The Iron and Steel zone too put up an excellent show during the period.?With an average pushing rate of 360, the Coke Ovens registered its best ever performance since inception. The Blast Furnaces produced 1.29 Million tons of Hot Metal thereby registering 110 per cent of capacity, while with a capacity

utilization of 109 per cent the Steel Melting Shops made 1.21 Million tons of total Crude Steel. RSP`s CEO G S Prasad visited various units of the Steel Plant yesterday and asked the employees to make their best efforts in the remaining five months of the current fiscal.
