In a barbaric and inhuman incident, a Havildar allegedly threw boiling water on a constable posted at the Bangiriposhi Fire Services unit in Mayurbhanj district.

The injured, Dushant Dehury’s fault was that he was allegedly coming late to barrack regularly. Instead of bringing the matter to the notice of higher authorities, the accused Havildar, who is in charge, allegedly threw boiling water on him on Sunday night.

The accused Havildar has been identified as Nutan Mallick. Sources said that the injured staff had returned to the barrack at around 10:30 pm. Later, an argument broke out with Mallick who subsequently threw boiling water on him. It is alleged that Mallick had kept the boiling water ready to teach Dehury a lesson. Moreover, attempts were also made to suppress the matter.

The injured staff was only rushed to the hospital after his condition deteriorated in the morning today.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the accused Havildar and senior officials of the Fire Services Department.
