Two hacked to death in Keonjhar over family dispute

Keonjhar: A family rivalry ended in a tragedy after an elderly woman and her brother-in-law were axed to death by a neighbour at Sirisakhunta village under Sadar Police Station on Monday night.

The deceased, identified as Jaai Dehuri and Bira Dehuri, had previous enmity with the family of the accused following which the latter murdered them, police said. The accused committed the crime while Jaai and Bira were asleep at night.

“It is known from the preliminary investigation that previous enmity might be the reason behind the murder. Accused Pathani Padhan has been detained.Further investigation is on,” Keonjhar SDPO said.

Padhan also attacked the village watchman when he resisted his act.
