Jajpur: Police today arrested seven persons in connection with the murder of a jewellery shop owner and his staff near Pritipur Bazaar under Binjharpur police limits of Jajpur district last Friday.
The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Jajpur and Kendrapara districts. Police officials have seized a country made gun, motorcycles, mobiles and a machete from the accused.
Central Range Police IG Soumendra Priyadarshi informed that the accused will be taken on remand for interrogation.
Meanwhile, three other accused involved in the case are still absconding.
Last Friday night, unidentified armed miscreants waylaid Khageswar Rana, a jewellery shop owner and his staff Chaitanya Sahu who were returning from their shop. The group attacked the duo and decamped with cash and ornaments.
Both were found dead on road near Kapila.
