A nine-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by a man in Bhubaneswar’s Mancheswar area on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Yudhisthir Soren who also happens to be the minor girl's neighbour.
As per reports, the minor girl was allegedly lured by Soren with puffed rice and was then taken to a secluded place and raped.
The incident came to the fore after some locals found the girl writhing in pain and informed her parents.
A case was registered under the POCSO act after which the accused was arrested by the police.
Speaking about the incident, Bhubaneswar Zone-4 ACP, Sanjeev Satapathy said, “A complaint was filed at Mancheswar police station on March 13 by the girl’s father accusing Soren of raping his daughter by luring her with food.”
“A case has been registered at Mancheswar Police Station after which Soren was arrested. Because of the sensitivity of the case and as it comes under POCSO act, we have taken it seriously,” he said.
The girl will be produced before the magistrate for recording of her statement after her medical examination is done.
The accused will be forwarded to court after his medical examination, informed sources.
