One killed, three critically injured in tragic road mishap

A tragic road accident claimed the life of one person and left three others critically injured at Jamkhunta village under Sindhekela police station in Bolangir’s Kantabanji area on Sunday, triggering tension in the locality.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a Bullet hit the victims from behind while they were standing on the roadside. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in one person dying on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries.

The injured were immediately rushed to Khariar Hospital in Nuapada district for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be critical. The identity of the deceased and the injured persons is yet to be officially confirmed.

Soon after the incident, anger spread among local residents. Protesting the incident, locals placed the body of the deceased on the road and staged a demonstration, demanding compensation for the victim’s family and strict action against the erring rider. The protest led to temporary disruption of traffic in the area.

Police from Sindhekela police station reached the spot and tried to pacify the agitating locals. After assurance from the authorities regarding appropriate action and support, the situation was brought under control.

Police have seized the motorcycle involved in the accident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap. A case has been registered, and further legal procedures are underway. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.
