Cuttack: The district administration today sealed 13 more Kalyan Mandaps in the city as per the directive of the Orissa High Court.

In a joint drive, senior officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) and the commissionerate police sealed 10 Kalyan Mandaps under Purighat Police limits and three in the CDA areas in Markat Nagar.

“The district administration is acting on the directive of the Orissa High Court. We will take our next course of action after the court gives its order at the next hearing," Tilotamma Sahu, CMC Recovery Officer, told media persons here.

Asked whether the Kalyan Mandap owners are cooperating with the administration, she said while some owners are cooperating, others are not happy.

“We cannot do anything right now as we are strictly going by the order of the High Court. The Kalyan Mandap owners should have acted early after getting notice from the administration,” she said.

To a question on whether action would be taken against the owners if they reopen the sealed Kalyan Mandap, Sahu said they would be punished if they violate the order of the court.

Notably, the administration had sealed 41 Kalyan Mandaps during a joint drive on May 17 and 18.
