It is reported that the police of Khunti and Gumla districts were chasing the vehicles smuggling cattle. The Ranchi police also had information that some vehicles carrying cattle were about to pass through Tupudana.
A police team was deployed on the highway near Hulhundu for checking the vehicles. At around 3 a.m. a pick-up van with cattle was signalled to stop, but the driver sped away after running over the woman inspector. Sandhya was a 2018 batch officer of Jharkhand Police.
Later, the police seized the vehicle that had crushed the inspector. The driver has been arrested, but the cattle smugglers in the vehicle managed to escape. Based on CCTV footage, the police are trying to trace the smugglers.
Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar, who treats ailments with wild herbs, like all his patients, charged Dhoni Rs 40 for a single dose of medicine.
About 70 km from Ranchi, at Katingkela in Lapung police station area, Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kharwar has been treating patients for the last 28 years.
He has a tarpaulin tent under a tree where Dhoni has been visiting him for last one month at an interval of four days to get a dose of his medicine.
The medicine prepared by this Vaidya for the treatment of bone ailments is such that it cannot be carried home.
Before Dhoni, his parents were treated by this doctor. Vaidya Bandhan Singh Kherwar said that he did not initially recognise Dhoni's parents nor could he recognise Dhoni.
He learnt of his famous patient only when the youths in the neighbourhood gathered around for photos with him.
Vaidya said that "Dhoni comes like a normal patient without any pomp. He has no pride in being a celebrity. However, now every four days, the news of Dhoni's arrival gathers his fans here.
So now he sits in his car while his medicine is administered to him."
Dutta also offered to buy an electric wheelchair for the boy as a "small token of our appreciation" for the lifelong dedication of his parents in taking care of a disabled person.
As the boy was prohibited from boarding the airline's Ranchi-Hyderabad flight on Saturday, his parents -- who were with him -- also decided to not enter the plane.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dutta said, Having reviewed all aspects of this incident, we as an organisation are of the view that we made the best possible decision under difficult circumstances."
Throughout the check-in and boarding process, our intent of course was to carry the family. However, at the boarding area the teenager was visibly in panic, he mentioned.
While providing courteous and compassionate service to our customers is of paramount importance to us, the airport staff, in line with the safety guidelines, were forced to make a difficult decision as to whether this commotion would carry forward aboard the aircraft, he stated.
We recognise too well that parents who dedicate their lives to the caring of physically challenged persons are the true heroes of our society, he noted.
We offer our sincere regrets to the affected family for the unfortunate experience and as a small token of our appreciation of their lifelong dedication would like to offer to purchase an electric wheelchair for their son, he added.
All of us at IndiGo are truly distressed by this particular incident, Dutta mentioned.
Since April 2022, we have carried over 75,000 specially abled passengers aboard our airline and our crew and airport staff are trained to serve such passengers sensitively, he said.
The 2017 regulations of Indian aviation regulator DGCA state that passengers who are likely to be unruly and disruptive must be carefully monitored and if deemed to pose a threat to safety and security of the flight, fellow passengers or staff while on board the plane, they should be refused embarkation.
"Airline shall establish mechanism to detect and report unruly passenger behaviour at check-in, in the lounges, and at the boarding gate in order to prevent such passengers from boarding," the regulations added.
Chasing a target of 180 in 20 overs, Tripura was bowled out for only 107 in 17.2 overs.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Odisha openers Rajesh Dhuper and Anurag Sarangi added 53 runs for the first wicket. Anurag got out LBW for 18 while wicketkeeper Rajesh Dhuper scored 42 off 34 before being run-out.
However, it was the partnership between Govinda Poddar and Subhranshu Senapati that laid the foundation for the team. They added 67 runs for the third wicket.
Senapati scored 30 off 24 balls while Poddar, who made a comeback into the T20 team, scored 55 off 28 balls with four boundaries and four sixes. Odisha finished with 179/6 in its allotted 20 overs.
Suryakant Pradhan wrecked havoc from the very first over by sending both Smit Patel and Yashpal Singh back into the hut without a run on the board. In his second over in the match, Suryakant again took a sharp catch on his follow-through to pick the wicket of the other opener Udiyan Bose.
Tripura then never recovered from the early blow. Though skipper Mura Singh (23) and Gurinder Singh (39) tried their best to save the match, no other Tripura batsman failed to face a strong bowling lineup of Odisha.
Prayas Singh Thakur, Debabrata Pradhan, Jayanta Behera, Abhishek Raut and Govinda Poddar took one wicket each for Odisha.
Odisha with eight points from its three games will now take on Jharkhand in a match scheduled to be played at JSCA International Stadium Complex on January 16.
Today, Jharkhand chased down the target of 124 set by Odisha quite comfortably in 16.4 overs by losing only two wickets. After Virat Singh's early dismissal in the fifth over, Ishan Kishan (51) and Ishank Jaggi (40) added 84 runs to put Jharkhand in the driver's seat in the crucial last game of the East Zone leg.
For Odisha, Govinda Poddar picked up the first wicket while Debabrata Pradhan broke the second wicket stand by bowling out Ishan Kishan just after his half-century.
Earlier in the game, Odisha was off to a terrible start after winning the toss and batting first with both the openers getting out with only 22 runs on board. Odisha was in dire straits with 59/6 after which experienced Govinda Poddar carried on the recovery work by putting on a 60-run partnership with Abhishek Raut.
Poddar scored 64 off 42 deliveries with the help of five boundaries and four hits over the ropes. Odisha was bowled out for only 123 in 19.4 overs despite Govinda's half-century. Monu Kumar picked up four wickets for Jharkhand.
The outlawed organisation alleged that Jharkhand police has deliberately arrested some of its leaders and tortured them. The outfit warned of intensifying the agitation if their cadres are not freed at the earliest, sources said.
Following the day-long bandh, commuters of Odisha-Jharkhand border experienced a tough time as 35 buses, which regularly connect with Ranchi, Gaya,Gumla,Jamshedpur and Sasaram, stayed off the road at steel city.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the border areas like Bisra, Jareikela, K. Balanga to avoid any untoward incident. Combing operation has also been intensified by the paramilitary forces on the border.

The Air Odisha will provide flight service from Bhubaneswar to Raipur, Utkela, Jaipur, Jharsuguda, Ranchi and Rourkela. Similarly, Deccan would provide service to Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in Rourkela.
While flights having 20 seats would provide the service, the price of the tickets has been fixed at Rs 2500. The new flight service would be made operational by September this year, sources said.
Two flats in an apartment in Laxmisagar area owned by Das were searched and several incriminating documents seized during the raid.
A team of CBI sleuths from Ranchi also participated in the raid. More than Rs 70 lakh was allegedly defrauded by Seashore in the Jharkhand capital.
Similarly, the sleuths also raided the house of a woman director of Seashore at Palasuni in Bhubaneswar.
More than Rs 500 crores of investors’ money was allegedly usurped by Seashore. The Crime Branch of Odisha Police had initially probed the case and arrested the CMD Das.
However, later the CBI conducted its probe into the chit-fund scam as per a directive from the Supreme Court.
The CBI has filed a preliminary charge sheet in the court against Prashant Das, his brother Prabhat Das and middleman Subhankar Naik in the Seashore case.
Two IPS officers have also been quizzed in connection with the case.
"Since Independence the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao' has been given. Only politics has been done in the name of ending poverty. If politics had not been done, India would have been different now," Modi said, without naming the Congress, at the launch of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) here.
All the schemes to help and empower the poor have been launched by the BJP-led government at the Centre. Statistics reveal that five crore people have come out of poverty, he said.
The medal winners of Asian games belong to villages and poor families. They won medals because they were given opportunities, he added.
"Only vote bank politics has been done in the past in the name of caste and creed," Modi said, adding that the Ayushman Bharat scheme is for all Indians, without any discrimination.

Ranchi: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad was on Saturday sentenced to three and a half years jail in a fodder scam case.
Special CBI judge Shivpal Singh announced the sentence after hearing arguments on quantum of sentencing.
He also slapped a Rs 5 lakh fine on the former Bihar Chief Minister.
The court had on December 23 convicted Lalu Prasad and 15 others in the case relating to the multi-million-rupee scam.
Australia thrashed the hosts in the first Test match at Pune by 333 runs and then lost the second match in Bengaluru by 75 runs.
The third match, which was played in Ranchi, was a dull day with series tied at 1-1. In the fourth and final test match in Dharamsala, India defeated Australia by eight wickets to clinch the Test series 2-1 and regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Congratulating the team, CA Chairman David Peever said: "As the team arrives home over the next two days, they will find that all of Australia is immensely proud of their efforts. Some gave them little chance of testing the world's number one team, but instead showed resilience, adaptability and a determination to overcome the difficulties they have experienced in recent years in such conditions."
"They came very close to winning the series, but did achieve Australia's first Test win in India since 2004. There were many fine individual performances, but none better than those of the captain. Steve showed yet again what an outstanding leader he is becoming, and his honesty and gracious comments at the end demonstrated the qualities that Australians expect from their Test captain.
"Credit must also be given to the Bupa Support Team staff, who helped the squad prepare so well in Dubai, and then guided them through the lengthy visit," he added.
Peever also said that the Indian tour was tough as they expected and players delivered their best.
"It was a tough series, as we expected and indeed welcome from our Indian hosts. Cricket at this level is highly competitive, and it is incumbent on all involved, players and administrators, to honour the protocols and standards of behaviour that underpin the spirit of cricket," Peever said.
"As a result of this series, and the series just completed in New Zealand, Australia has finished as the number 3 ranked Test team for this international season. We aspire to be number one in all formats, so while the team's efforts in India, and across the summer following the disappointment of the first two Tests against South Africa, represent a significant improvement, we all know that we must continue to learn and develop our skills.
We want to win major trophies, like the Ashes and the Border Gavaskar, not just at home but overseas as well. Our players will now take a well-earned break, before we look forward to the ICC Champions Trophy in England," Peever concluded.
Saha, who took 233 deliveries to get to the landmark, was involved in a 199-run seventh-wicket partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara (202 off 525 balls) as India declared their first innings at a mammoth 603/9 to take a 152-run lead over Australia who had scored 451 in the first innings.
At stumps on the fourth day of the third Test, the tourists were reduced to 23/2 with the lead cut down to 129 runs.
"This is the best among the three I have," Saha told reporters here about his century knock.
"We badly needed a partnership. My partnership began slowly and then he made 200 and I got my century," the Bengal wicket-keeper added.
Asked if he feels like an improved batsman now, Saha said he has not changed anything as such and backed himself more.
"I didn't really change the way I batted. I'm backing myself more now. When I'm playing sweep shots or stepping out, I used to have doubts early in my career. Now the team is supporting me. It has a good effect on me," he added.
Pujara, Saha said, showed great patience by curtailing his shots and holding fort from one end.
"Puji has so much patience. He scores 200-300 in domestic cricket almost routinely. He is always on the top of his game. He showed great patience here," the Bengal stumper said.
"He was losing partners at the other end, and we were not getting really big partnerships. He curtailed his shots, trying to build big partnerships."
About his verbal exchanges with Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood, Saha said, "A little banter always goes on. Pujara was telling him 'Look at the scoreboard'. He was on 180-odd then. They said something to me as well, I just said 'Go back and bowl'. Nothing more than that."
Australia were reduced to 23/2 at stumps as Ravindra Jadeja sent opener David Warner and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon back to the hut early. In the first innings, India took a 152-run lead after amassing 603/9 declared in reply to Australia's 451.
"We've got to cope with it as best we can and come up with a plan, and we've done a lot of practice in those conditions so I'm really confident they can do the job and see how they go. Be a great challenge for them," Lehmann told reporters at the end of the fourth day's play.
"You've got to prepare for all scenarios here in India, as you've seen the wickets start to wear on day four, day five, this has been a really traditional Indian wicket, a good wicket. It's quite a challenge. We were preparing in Dubai and that's what we did and now it's putting it into practice," the 47-year-old added.
Lehmann said the visitors have a plan to tackle Jadeja who bowled two excellent deliveries to get rid of Warner and Lyon.
"(It was) tough to lose those two wickets tonight, they were some good balls from them. It will be a good challenge for the group to put it into practice tomorrow and we've got to do that and to deliver on the big stage."
"Once the ball gets a little bit softer, it plays pretty well. So there's no real demons in the track. It's a case of obviously applying ourselves much like Pujara and Saha did today," he said.
"We will have to come up with a plan to combat Jadeja but we've worked on that and you'll probably see it tomorrow, I would think."
Lehmann said the challenge for his team is to get two good partnerships and get a hold of the game.
"They've got to believe in what they're doing as a group and a couple of good balls like tonight that can happen in a game of cricket. For us, it's a great challenge. The challenge for our group is to put on a couple of partnerships and really get ahead of the game."
"When you bowl 210 overs, I don't think that's happened too often and India do that well. They bat long periods of time here in India," the former top order batsman opined.
"If anything, it heightens our first innings where we needed to bat a little bit longer. But the bowlers worked really hard and I thought they were fantastic. Chopped and changed as best as they could in the conditions. We'll see how they pull up and make a decision. But we'll worry about tomorrow first."
Pujara scored a double-century and Saha notched up a ton as the duo produced a partnership of 199 runs to enable India declare their first innings at 603/9 for a lead of 152 runs.
Australia had scored 451 in their first innings.
Pujara scored 202 runs off a marathon 525 deliveries with 21 hits to the ropes. This was the third Test double-century for Pujara and his second against Australia.
The Saurashtra batsman also created the record of most balls faced in an innings by an Indian batsman.
He is the first Indian to face more than 400 balls in a Test innings at home since V.V.S. Laxman batted 452 deliveries during his 281-run knock against Australia during the Kolkata Test in 2001.
Pujara's marathon innings came to an end soon after the double-century when he tried to loft a Nathan Lyon delivery over midwicket and Glenn Maxwell pulled off an excellent catch.
Saha was also in excellent form at the other end, scoring 117 runs. His third century in the longest format of the game came off 233 deliveries and included eight boundaries and a six.
The hosts' first essay consumed 210 overs, the most numbers of overs that India have ever batted against Australia in a single innings. The previous highest was 202 overs during the Adelaide Test in 2004.
Among the other Indian batsmen, opener Murali Vijay scored 82, while Jadeja remained unbeaten on 54.
Fast bowler Pat Cummins was the most successful among the Australian bowlers with figures of 4/106.
Left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe returned figures of 3/199 while pacer Josh Hazlewood and off-spinner Lyon claimed a wicket each.
After skipper Virat Kohli declared the India innings with less than hour to go for stumps, left-arm spinner Jadeja claimed the wickets of David and Nathan Lyon to leave Australia struggling at 23/2 in their second outing when play was called for the day.
Jadeja notched up figures of 6/2 off the 3.2 overs he has bowled so far.
The visitors now trail India by 129 runs.
Earlier, resuming the penultimate day at 360/6, Pujara and Saha batted steadily as the hosts closed the deficit slowly but surely.
The two stitched together an unbeaten 107-run stand for the seventh wicket, with Pujara batting on 164 and Saha on 59. This is the highest run partnership in the innings.
Both batsmen survived two LBW appeals before lunch as they were on the right side of their respective Decision Review System (DRS) calls.
Throughout his marathon stay at the crease, Pujara was involved in a total of six partnerships.
The Saurashtra right-hander, who was rock solid on the backfoot, took a liking to Steve O'Keefe's bowling, scoring a lot of runs off the left-arm spinner.
But what got captain Virat Kohli smiling was the fact that India got both their reviews right on the money. First Saha was given out when he was batting on 19 and the score was 362/6.
But after the diminutive wicketkeeper-batsman went upstairs, replays showed the ball was missing leg stump.
Pujara was next, taking the DRS after umpire Ian Gould had adjudged him leg before to a Lyon delivery. But reviews showed that the delivery pitched on the off-stump line and turned a tad too much to miss the leg stump, forcing the umpire to reverse his original decision.
Pujara was an epitome of concentration as he brought up his 150 in typical fashion, stealing a run with a defensive jab.
Shortly before the lunch interval, Lyon again appealed and then referred, this time for caught behind when Saha executed a sweep shot.
But replays found no evidence of contact leaving the visitors more frustrated.
Pujara and Saha batted the entire post-lunch session as well before going back in quick succession after the tea break.
After Lyon had sent back Pujara, Saha fell just three overs later when he tried to chip an O'Keefe delivery over cover only to see Maxwell pull off another excellent catch.
Jadeja and Umesh Yadav then added 54 runs between them before Kohli decided to announce the declaration.
Playing his 50th Test, opener Murali Vijay looked rock solid to remain unbeaten on 42 at the close of the day's play. Cheteshwar Pujara was batting on 10 at the other end.
The hosts are now trailing Australia's first innings total by 331 runs.
The opening duo of Rahul and Vijay gave India a steady start in their first innings with a 91-run stand. Vijay scored 67 runs with nine hits to the fence before being caught behind by wicketkeeper Matthew Wade off fast bowler Pat Cummins.
Earlier, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja claimed a five-wicket haul as Australia were dismissed for 451 in their first innings.
Jadeja returned figures of 5/124, the eighth five-wicket haul of his Test career and the fourth this season.
Fast bowler Umesh Yadav also bowled well for figures of 3/106 while star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a wicket.
Skipper Steven Smith played a captain's innings for Australia and remained unbeaten on 178 to guide them to a big total. He hit 17 boundaries during the 361 balls he faced.
Glenn Maxwell, who returned to the Australian Test side after a lengthy period, scored his maiden century in the longest format of the game and put on a 191-run stand with Smith to help the visitors to a strong position after losing early wickets on the opening day.
The visitors started the day on a positive note with Maxwell bringing up the first runs of the day with a boundary.
The right-hander quickly completed his maiden century in the longest format of the game, reaching the landmark by guiding an Umesh Yadav delivery to the third man boundary.
Maxwewll, who is playing in only the fourth Test of his career, departed shortly afterwards when a Jadeja delivery landed on the off-stump line and spun away viciously. The ball kissed the outer edge of Maxwell's bat and Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha pulled off an excellent catch.
Maxwell scored 104 runs off 185 balls with nine hits to the fence and two sixes. It was a rare display of patience and endurance from the right-hander who had scored only 80 runs in the three Tests he had played previously in his career.
Matthew Wade joined Smith in the middle and the duo proceeded to add 64 runs between them before Jadeja struck twice in quick succession.
Wade seemed to be in good form, scoring 37 runs off the 50 balls he faced. He seemed on track for a half-century but was outfoxed by a Jadeja delivery which kept straight after pitching.
Wade, who played for the turn, only ended up handing an edge to Saha.
Pat Cummins survived all of two deliveries before Jadaja bowled him with a beautiful delivery. The ball landed on the middle and leg stump line and spun away viciously, beating the outside edge of the bat to hit the off-stump.
Jadeja almost dismissed Smith in the last over before lunch, but the ball landed just short of the slip cordon.
Steven O'Keefe was the first to fall after the lunch break as he mistimed an attempted pull of a Umesh delivery which was pitched just short of good length. The ball hit the top edge and lobbed up for Vijay at fine leg.
Nathan Lyon fell in the next over with Karun Nair pulling off an excellent reflex catch off Jadeja's bowling.
Jadeja then came up with an excellent bit of fielding to help run out Josh Hazlewood thus bringing Australia's first innings to an end.
Skipper Florian Fuchs (second minute), Affan Yousuf (51st minute) were the goal scorers for Mumbai, while Ashley Jackson (5th and 49th) and Mohammad Amir Khan (16th minute) and Imran Khan (57th minute) scored for the hosts who came into the match winless in the last two matches.
Both teams started the match at a frenetic pace, attacking each other constantly, as a result the 12th match of the league saw two field goals in the first five minutes of the game.
The opening goal was scored by Mumbai's Fuchs in the second minute. After a few fumbles, the ball landed in front of him in the circle and he reverse hit the ball into the net to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Almost immediately, Ranchi Rays, who were playing the match without their star player Christopher Ruhr equalled the scoreline.
Skipper Jackson found the back of the net when his team needed it the most. The seasoned Britain player deflected Manpreet Singh's free hit into the net to bring back his team into the contest.
After two quick goals, both teams slowed down the game and Ranchi controlled the ball possession for most of the time.
In the second quarter, the hosts didn't take too long to put pressure on Mumbai with yet another field goal taking their lead to a comfortable 4-2.
In the 16th minute, Flynn Ogilve ran in and passed to Amir, standing at the left flank, and the latter tapped the ball into an empty net.
Soon after conceding a goal, Mumbai started counter-attacking but the defence of the home side was more powerful to deny the chances.
Minutes into the third quarter, the hosts made unnecessary fouls which led to a penalty corner but Mumbai failed to convert it.
In the 27th minute, custodian David Harte saved a brilliant shot to stop Ranchi from extending their lead.
The hosts went into the 10-minute break at half-time leading the table toppers 4-2.
The third quarter saw a more attacking game with both teams pressing hard. It was Mumbai who won a penalty corner but Harmanpreet Singh dragged it outside the goal mouth.
Playing with 10 players in the dying minutes of the quarter, Mumbai were offered a goal opportunity but they missed and as a result both teams ended the third quarter at the same score.
In an exciting final quarter, the match saw many circle penetrations and counter attacks from both the teams.
The match turned in Ranchi's favour when Robert Kemperman got a blow to his head while defending a penalty corner, resulting in a penalty stroke which was converted by Jackson to make it 5-2.
With just over 11 minutes left for the final hooter, Ranchi were given a penalty corner and Affan Yousuf grabbed it with both hands off a rebound.
The last five minutes saw the intensity rise to the optimum level. It was Ranchi who sealed the match in their favour as Imran slammed a Sarvanjit Singh pass in the 57th minute to give the hosts a 7-3 victory.
After Ashley Jackson gave them a 1-0 lead with a successful penalty corner conversion in the 23rd minute, Ranchi showcased fluent and aggressive hockey and found the field goals, with each counted as two in the tournament, from Sumit (30th), German forward Christopher Ruhr (31st) and Manpreet Singh (44th).
The huge win helped Ranchi move up to the second position with eight points from three games, while despite the loss, Kalinga remained at the top with 10 points from three games. Dabang Mumbai, who have seven points from two matches, are third, while Uttar Pradesh Wizards are fourth with a point from as many game.
Ranchi, who drew their opener against Dabang Mumbai and lost to Kalinga in Bhubaneswar, were determined to make the best out of their opening home game. They played a high-intensity game, dominated possession and penetrated Kalinga's defence regularly.
German Ruhr was at the forefront of their attack and the 23-year-old this edition's import was in a position to put the hosts ahead towards the end of the first quarter but he became impatient and fired his shot wide of the left post.
They, however, upped the ante as soon as the second quarter began, earning a penalty corner in the very first minute. But Jackson's lethargic flick failed to challenge Kalinga's Australian goalkeeper Andrew Charter.
But the English set-piece specialist rectified himself in the next opportunity which came in the 23rd minute. His flick hit the left pad of Andrew Charter and went in, with final defender Moritz Furste stranded.
Kalinga responded strongly to the goal but their star striker Glenn Turner fluffed two close-range chances. They earned a penalty corner too, but home team goalkeeper Tyler Lovell was not troubled by Gurjinder Singh's flick which went straight at him.
With the visitors not making their chances count, Ranchi made sure that Kalinga continue to suffer as Sumit's drive from close range moved past Charter, giving the hosts a 3-0 lead at the stroke of the half-time.
One minute into the third quarter, Ranchi showed their ruthlessness as Jackson's solo run from the half-line saw him feed Ruhr at the top of the circle and the German lifted the ball in past changed goalkeeper Abhinav Pandey to make it 5-0.
Despite the handsome 5-0 lead, the home teams didn't relent and three minutes later Jackson had the chance for his second penalty corner conversion but this shot flew wide.

However, the goals kept coming. Gurbaj Singh intercepted at the half-line on the right and charged forward before finding an unmarked Manpreet with a precisive cross at the left post. And Manpreet only had to guide the ball in to make it an impregnable 7-0 in the 44th minute.
Already out of the contest, Kalinga pulled two goals back with Lalit Upadhyay tapping home a base-line cross from Aran Zalewski in the 49th minute.
The goal failed to lift the spirit of the visitors, whose defensive structure had a day to forget.
A total of 17 airports are stamp-free in the country at present, with four airports joining the new protocol yesterday.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), tasked to secure 59 civil airports against terror and security threats, will soon launch a trial of the new system at Amritsar, Chandigarh, Varanasi, Udaipur, Dibrugarh, Nagpur, Managalore, Trichy, Pune and Ranchi airports.
"We will be conducting the trial at ten more airports. Once the trials are successful, we would be bringing these ten airports under the stamp-free hand baggage regime by this month end or early October," CISF Director General O P Singh.
The force, alog with other aviation security stakeholders, had started the regime at the Jaipur, Guwahati, Lucknow and Trivandrum, Patna and Chennai airports from June 1.
It has already done away with the system at seven other air facilities in Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, since April 1.
Sources in aviation security said two airports at Bhubaneswar and Bagdogra could also have been brought under the new regime, with the four airports of Coimbatore, Kolkata, Indore and Vadodara yesterday, but some "infrastructural issues" delayed the move.
The trial at the ten fresh airports will ensure that adequate security gadgets and logistics are provided at these facilities so that tight security measures are in place once the stamping of the hand baggage tags procedure is discontinued.
By having the stamped tags on the hand baggage, the security personnel used to be assured that no weapon or ammunition like material enters the aircraft. It also pin points the accountability on the CISF personnel who clear the baggage.
With the deployment of smart cameras and re-positioning of security paraphernalia at the ten airports after the trial period, the same objective is being achieved.
The old stamping of hand baggage bags procedure had been a major irritant for passengers and they have made many complaints in this regard to airport authorities saying the system poses hassles for them as it consumes time and in case they forget to get it tagged, security personnel would ask them to go back and get it done.
A committee comprising officials of the CISF, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the airport operators has been constituted early this year by the government to smoothen the rollout of this new protocol at all the 59 airports guarded by the paramilitary force.
DG Singh had maintained that the new measure will enhance "passenger experience and provide hassle-free security environment to them" while travelling through the airports.
The new protocols are only meant for domestic passengers and those travelling to international destinations will have to get their hand baggage tags stamped as usual.
The death of the woman is being examined, police said.
Police detained one of the two who were cremating the woman yesterday. The man was identified as Pintu Padhy, 27, a businessman of Kumbhari, the neighbouring village of Pandia.
The deceased was identified as Pramila Behera.
Behera's parents are settled in Ranchi in Jharkhand, they said.
"Padhy and Pramila were in a live-in relationship and residing in a rented house on Church Road in Berhampur for the past few months," said Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Purushottampur, Dilip Kumar Das.
Padhy claimed that Behera committed suicide by hanging herself in the rented house on Friday night. Before she killed self, she reportedly informed Padhy over the phone.
When Padhy reached home, he claimed to have found the body of Behera hanging from the ceiling.
When the parents of the deceased did not respond after being informed about her suicide, he transported the body in an auto and decided to cremate it, he said.
"As the motive behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained, we doubt the statement given by Padhy. Moreover, why should he bring the body to Pandia for cremation without intimating police at Berhampur is what we are concerned about," said the SDPO.
"We are investigating from all angles. The body has been sent for post-mortem," police said.
Gandhi also said he would not like to be projected as Congress' prime ministerial candidate as it would be unconstitutional and also that the party doesn?t usually announce its PM nominee ahead of the elections. The elections are due by May.
The Congress Vice President expressed these views during an interaction with a select group of people here during when some senior Jharkand PCC leaders were present.
A PCC leader, who did not want to be identified, quoted Gandhi as having said that if the MPs of Congress and its allies get elected in majority and if they chose him for the post of prime minister he would accept it.
Gandhi, who has been put incharge of Congress' poll campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, told his audience that he had publicly said at the recent AICC meeting that he was a soldier of the party.
Replying to queries on why the Congress was hesitant in projecting him as the party's prime ministerial candidate, he is reported to have said that doing so before polls was unconstitutional.
The PCC leader said Rahul disagreed with a questioner that Government accepting his demand for increase in the quota of subsidised gas cylinders from 9 to 12 and withdrawing an Ordinance that protected convicted legislators after his outburst indicated he was the party's PM choice.
Rahul said whatever he has done is based on the feedback he got from party workers.
He was also quoted as having said that the Congress and RJD are still in discussions about forging an alliance and that nothing has been decided yet. At the same time, he said there is a need to stop the communal forces.
The PCC leader said Rahul agreed with a questioner that there was lack of discipline in the Congress in some states and also informed he was working to set up a structure in the party to infuse discipline.
To a query about a 'high command culture' in Congress, the PCC leader said Rahul replied that he refers all issues to PCC chiefs for solutions in their respective states.
Gandhi was also quoted as having said he was in favour of more empowerment of the women.
When told that people on the ground hardly knew about existence of the Right to Information(RTI) Act, he came with a counter asking whether it should be scrapped. He also favoured passing of some more people-friendly bills.
During his day-long visit to Jharkand, Gandhi interacted with tribal women and people from the minority communities and with some other groups.
Usman Khawaja's hundred and Aaron Finch's 93 saw Australia put up a more than decent 313 for five and India could manage only 281 in 48.2 overs, that too solely due to Kohli's 123 off 95 balls.
It was yet another superlative effort from the Indian skipper, who lacked adequate support from the other end as Australia kept the five-match series consequential going into the fourth game in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Kohli scored his first 50 off 52 balls and the next 50 off just 33 balls which was sheer class as always. The acceleration was so sudden that it even took the Australian attack by surprise.
The skipper launched a brutal assault on the Australian bowlers. From gorgeous looking cover drives to delectable on-drives and those deft touches everything was present in a bouquet.
The true nature of the pitch helped him hit through the line as he smashed 16 fours and a six.
However Adam Zampa (3/70), by far the most impactful Aussie bowler, yorked the Indian skipper after having accounted for former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (26). He did get hit but he would any day take wickets of Kohli, Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav (26) in return.
Kohli had three significant partnerships -- 59 with Dhoni for the fourth wicket, 88 with Jadhav for the fifth wicket and 45 with Vijay Shankar for the sixth -- but none good enough to take India across the line.
Shikhar Dhawan (1), Rohit Sharma (14) and Ambati Rayudu (2) were dismissed cheaply as India was left tottering at 27 for three and it was always a difficult task from there on.
Dhawan's slash was grabbed by Glenn Maxwell at point while Cummins angled one to trap Rohit Sharma plumb in-front.
Rayudu, not the most reliable player against quality fast bowlers, was beaten for pace by Cummins, who pegged his off-stump back.
After winning the toss, Indian pacers covered up commendably for a rare off-day endured by the spinners as visitors were restricted to 313 for five despite a 193-run opening stand between skipper Finch and Khawaja.
Khawaja (104, 113 balls) scored his maiden ODI ton while Finch (93, 99 balls) chose this particular match to get back to form.
Maxwell (47 off 31 balls) also contributed with lusty blows.
The Indian spinners -- Ravindra Jadeja (0/64 in 10 overs) and Kedar Jadhav (0/32 in 2 overs) -- were carted all around the park.
Kuldeep Yadav (3/64 in 10 overs), however, redeemed himself at the back-end of the innings.
The trio gave away 160 runs in 22 overs and it was left to Jasprit Bumrah (0/53) and Mohammed Shami (1/52 in 10 overs) to maintain the discipline during the final overs as the total could have gone close to the 350-run mark.
In the final 10 overs, Australia could score only 69 runs, despite being 244 for two after 40 overs, courtesy Bumrah and Shami who bowled 64 dot balls between them.
The fielding on the day was also way below par as Dhawan, at square leg, dropped Khawaja, who tried a reverse sweep, while batting on 17 off Jadeja's bowling.
Kohli, Kedar and Bumrah were all guilty of slip-ups on the field which also released the pressure on the visitors.
With the pitch on offer being the best in three games, the Australian openers showed positive intent from the start.
Shami's freak on-field injury also played its part as he had to leave the field temporarily after bowling the first three overs.
The momentum shifted from there on as both Finch and Khawaja played the spin troika brilliantly.
Both Finch and Khawaja and later Maxwell used big front-foot strides to counter the spinners.
Whenever Kedar tossed it up, Finch cleared his front leg and fetched it from outside the off-stump, swatting him over deep mid-wicket.
If he bowled with a side-arm lower trajectory, Finch would rock back and play him square off the wicket.
In case of Jadeja, the inside-out shot and the cut was used liberally by Khawaja and Maxwell.
For Kuldeep, the Australians decided to plonk their front-foot, negate the spin and hit him through the line for sixes.
The incident took place in the 44th over, when Turner tried to slash a wide leg-break from spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and the ball took the edge of the bat and settled into the gloves of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Though the on-field umpire turned down India's appeal, Kohli and boys asked for a review. The replay showed a clear nick on the snickometer, but the third umpire stuck with the on-field umpire's decision.
"The DRS call was a bit of surprise for all of us and it's becoming more of a talking point in every game. It's just not consistent at all, that was a game-changing moment," Kohli said.
"But yeah, that's more of an uncontrollable, but the controllable we had to do right, and we didn't do it right, and the opportunity slipped away," he added.
Kohli had earlier questioned the DRS in the third ODI in Ranchi when Australian captain Aaron Finch was adjudged leg before wicket off chinaman Kuldeep Yadav.
The event will be held at the Prabhat Tara ground and around 30,000 people are expected to participate in it, they said.

The story of two bosom friends
One is staying in Ranchi (Jharkhand) while the other in Ghaziabad, Delhi. Over thousands kilometer distance between the two places may kept them away from each other physically but not emotionally. Yes, this is the reason that Devendra Kumar Sharma from Ranchi traveled more than 1300 kilometers in 24 hours in a car and transported oxygen to his corona positive friend, Rajan.
Devendra received a call from Sanjay Saxena, who lives in Vaishali Ghaziabad, on April 24, saying that there was a dire need for oxygen for the Corona-infected Rajan and oxygen was not being provided there. Rajan was undergoing treatment at Sanjay Saxena’s house and oxygen was left for only a day.
Rajan’s Life At Threat
Sanjeev Suman, another friend of Devendra and Rajan, died of corona in Noida on April 19. Rajan and Sanjeev Suman’s flats are in the same society in Noida. After the death of Sanjeev, Rajan, who was infected with Corona, was very nervous. He tried hard for beds in hospitals in Noida and Delhi, but could not find a bed anywhere. After this, Rajan appraised his old acquaintance Sanjay Saxena. It was Sanjay Saxena who then took him to his home in Vaishali and Rajan started receiving treatment there.
Devendra Arrives Bokaro To Pick Up Oxygen Cylinder
On April 24, Devendra, after hearing the terrified voice of Sanjay Saxena, was in a panic about where to arrange an oxygen cylinder for his childhood friend Rajan. Devendra left for Bokaro, 150 km from Ranchi, in the night by bike. Families of both Devendra and Rajan are originally from Bokaro. Devendra started searching for the cylinder as soon as he reached Bokaro. When no work was done, Devendra approached Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the owner of the Jharkhand gas plant. Eventually, he found a cylinder there.
Devendra Arrives With Oxygen ‘Sanjeevani’ For His Friend Battling For Breath
Though Devendra received the cylinder, another big problem was ahead for him as to how he would send it to his friend at Vaishali Gaziabad which is more than 1300 kilometer away. But he was quite determined to make cylinder available to his friend. Finally, he decided to travel with the oxygen cylinder. For this, Devendra asked for a car from one of his connections and on Sunday afternoon, driving by himself, he left for Vaishali, Ghaziabad. On the way, he was also questioned during checking and police patrolling at different toll gates about the oxygen cylinder. He explained to police that his friend’s life is in danger and he had to reach there as soon as possible with the oxygen cylinder. After about 24 hours’ long drive, on Monday, he reached his friend Rajan who was then struggling for breath. He saved the life of his friend by bringing the oxygen cylinder at the right time. Now Rajan’s condition is better than before.
Childhood Friends
Both Devendra and Rajan Singh grew up together in Bokaro. Both came to Delhi for further studies. Here Sanjay Saxena played the role of caretaker for both of them. After completing college, Devendra had to return to Ranchi and work with an Insurance company while Rajan started working in the IT sector in Noida. Rajan lives in Noida with his wife while unmarried Devendra is employed in Rachi. The remaining members of both their families still live in Bokaro. Devendra now says that he will not return to Bokaro until his friend is completely recovered.
This true story of friendship is really an inspiration for everyone and creates a ray of hope in these gloomy times.
The decorated former India captain was seen taking the Jeep for a spin in the city as bystanders paused to admire the red midsize SUV and a glimpse of their local hero.
Last month, his wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni had shared a picture of a new addition in his garage. She had taken to Instagram to share the picture of the new car and said: "Welcome home #redbeast! Your toy is finally here @mahi7781, really missing you!"
The car is reportedly priced between Rs 80-90 lakh in India.
Dhoni is the owner of several high-end vehicles, including a Ferrari 599 GTO, Hummer H2 and the GMC Sierra when it comes to four-wheelers. In two wheelers, the stumper has some great additions like the Kawasaki Ninja H2, Confederate Hellcat, BSA, Suzuki Hayabusha and a Norton Vintage, beside several other bikes.
Dhoni, who led India to two World Cup titles -- 2007 World T20 and the 2011 50-over World Cup --is on a two-month break from cricket and recently served his Territorial Army battalion in Jammu and Kashmir.
Initially, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had allowed Chopra to participate in the competition. On Wednesday, AFI had tweeted about his comeback to drum up interest around the event.
"Back in business, everyone's super star, the one and only...Neeraj Chopra is all set to take the field at the 59th National Open Senior Athletics Championships," the AFI had tweeted on Wednesday morning.
However, now it is reported that the 21-year-old has been asked to withdraw after his coaches felt he had not recovered sufficiently following an elbow surgery in May.
Even Chopra was also quoted in an AFI release as saying: "I really want to get back to the competition mode. And since this is the last competition of the season, I want to use it to get into that feeling of competition."
"I have spoken to my doctors and they have said I am okay to compete. I am feeling good. I started training in Patiala a few weeks back and the throws are going well."
Chopra, who won a gold at the Commonwealth Games as well as the Asian Games last year, has not taken part in a championship in more than a year since throwing 83.90 metre in the Services Athletics Championships in Jalahalli on September 19 last year.
He was training in Potchefstroom, South Africa, when it was diagnosed that his elbow injury needed surgery in May last.
He wanted to participate in the World Championships in Doha held in September but was not allowed by the AFI after they felt he has not recovered fully.
He has still not qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, the qualification period for which began on May 1 this year.
