The miscreants reportedly pelted stones at the house of former corporator and independent candidate from ward no.12 Biren Patnaik and his wife Sasmita who was contesting for the corporator post from ward no 14. The couple had reportedly lost from their respective wards yesterday.

The victims alleged that the miscreants not only ransacked their vehicles but also damaged property of many local residents.

Several aspiring Samiti Members, who aspire for Block Chairperson posts in different districts of Odisha, filed their nominations on Saturday. While many candidates arrived for the election with a grand show, several incidents of violence were also reported from different districts. 

Even more than a week after the results for the Panchayat polls were announced, an unabated spate of violence continues in different parts of the State.

The CBI has formed four teams to investigate the serious cases like murder and rape that were reported after the announcement of Assembly poll results in the state on May 2.
